December is always a hectic yet joyous month because it is that time of the year when a lot of us get to reconnect with family members and friends whom we probably haven’t seen for a while. Well, that is if we are lucky enough to be alive and kicking. Even if you have been living under the rock for the past month, I’m sure you have heard about the unimaginable havoc Super Typhoon Haiyan, the strongest typhoon ever recorded, wrought in certain parts of the Philippines. You are only one google click away from seeing with your own eyes the gut-wrenching damage and abject conditions in places such as Tacloban city. I visited the Philippines back in 2012 (not the affected areas, though) during the monsoon season and was utterly bowled over by the exceptionally beautiful and pristine beaches of this country, and now can’t help but think about what could have happened if Mother Nature had decided to have her own way.
Today I just received an email from AirAsia, the budget airline to fly around South East Asia, about their fundraising campaign for the PHILIPPINES RED CROSS to help the victims of the typhoon in which they double the amount of donation we make. When you donate $5, they will send $10. Without a second thought, I put in my donation with the hope that it will reach those in need. I then thought about how I can spread this good cause, and the only medium for me to share other than my small circle of family and friends is this tiny blog. I sincerely hope each and every one of you, my beloved readers who are reading this and happen to come from nearly 100 countries, will make a contribution, be it big or small, to this campaign or whichever campaign that you personally know and believe in to help rebuild the lives of millions of people in the Philippines. I leave the link below so you can read more about what it is all about. Contribute what you can, and I guarantee it will be the best holiday gift for someone over there who most likely has lost everything and for yourself, emotionally and spiritually. Thank you very much!
