Apocalypse yesterday

Kim Kardashian Covers CR Fashion Book’s Third Issue

The third issue of CR Fashion Book was released two days ago. For those who aren’t so familiar, CR Fashion Book is the namesake magazine of Carine Roitfeld, the legendary former editor-in-chef of Vogue Paris and one of the most talented and chicest women in the fashion industry. I don’t know about you guys, but when I saw who is on the cover yesterday, the whole world came crashing down on me. For real. Kim Kardashian is on the cover and occupies a few pages of editorial, photographed by Uncle Karl and directed by man-of-the-moment Riccardo Tisci. Now let’s get real. While a lot of people simply love to hate Kim on the grounds that she’s talentless, materialistic, manipulative and all that jazz, I have never ever really judged her for that. For all it’s worth, I even think she’s a pretty good business woman herself. I’m not ashamed to admit that her sales & marketing skills probably give my four years of laboring hard in business and marketing in college a run for the money.

However, when it comes to fashion and style, I won’t sugarcoat the fact that she is downright horrendous. All the more so after she started fooling around with Ye and morphing herself in a so-called high fashion-loving, risk-taking women. Putting her on the cover of CR Fashion Book, which is among the top quality read right now, is like putting Britney Spears on the cover of Vogue. Seriously, there are 1,002 different magazines out there and they can be smiling, sulking, pouting, spreading the legs in any magazine they want– I have absolutely no beef with that whatsoever. Steer clear of fashion bibles such as Vogue and CR, though. Don’t bank on your main squeeze’s killer connections. Please.
